Manipal University signs MoU for academic cooperation with University of Chicago

The MoU includes mutual exchange of undergraduate and graduate medical students for clinical observerships, faculty exchange for educational purposes, etc.

MUMBAI: Manipal University has signed a MoU for academic cooperation with University of Chicago.

University of Chicago is amongst the top ten global Universities in the 2016 Times Higher Education World University rankings and University of Chicago’s Pritzker School of Medicine is among the leading medical schools in the US.

The MoU includes mutual exchange of undergraduate and graduate medical students for clinical observerships, faculty exchange for educational purposes, joint clerkships in practical field courses and allowing transfer of credits at both the campuses. One significant area of cooperation is in the area of pedagogy covering development of joint internationalised curricula and exchange of academic material and teaching methodology.

“I expect that the partnership in academic cooperation would enable Manipal University to have access to the cutting edge research and work being done by University of Chicago in the area of pedagogy and teaching methodology in medical education,” said Vinod Bhat, vice-chancellor, Manipal University, in a release. “The faculty and students in our university will benefit significantly from this collaboration in the years ahead,” he added.
