AMRAVATI: A new law to control and regulate the management of higher and technical education in Maharashtra was on the anvil and the same would be cleared by the cabinet at its ensuing meeting, Maharashtra minister for Higher and Technical Education Dilip Walse Patil said on Saturday.

Addressing platinum jubilee function of the local Nutan Kanya Shala run by Nutan Vidarbha Shikshan Mandal, Patil said the state government had done enough expansion of higher and technical education for the benefit of the students.

"The objective of the law is to focus on quality and standard of higher and technical education in the state," Patil said.

"India can become a super power by 2020 only if it had a programme to offer to its largest youth population," he added.

Minister of State for Planning and guardian minister of the district, Dr Sunil Deshmukh, MP Anant Gudhe, MLA Sulbhatai Khodke, Nutan Vidarbha Shikshan Mandal President Dr Y S Mashankar, were also present.
