NEW DELHI: Having established its name as one of Indias top institutes in hotel management in a short span of six years, Delhi-based LBIIHM is now gearing up to add more feathers in its cap. Some of its immediate plans are to build a big campus in the NCR region, besides setting up the nations first hospitality university by 2012.

The institute has also started offering MSc in hotel management in association with the Punjab Technical University, which allows any graduate to join and make a career in the hospitality industry.

Talking about their PG program, Kamal Kumar, director-cum-CEO, LBIIHM, said, Hotel management at PG level is better than doing MBA from any third-grade institute because it offers almost guaranteed employment and does not pinch the pocket also. Since the hospitality sector is booming, it can provide a wide range of opportunities to graduates. Moreover, candidates can go for self employment also.

According to him, the hotel and tourism industry is one of the fastest-growing and most dynamic industries in the world. Yet, it has a shortage of suitably qualified and experienced people. Therefore, skilled hospitality manpower is very much in demand, and the demand is likely to grow day by day.

In Delhi alone, 25 new star hotels are expected to come up soon in view of the Commonwealth Games 2010. This will create huge employment opportunities for the skilled hospitality manpower.

Also, taking a course in hotel management guarantees you a bright future not only in the core hospitality industry, but other related entities as well such as travel agencies, multiplexes, insurance companies, tour operators, hospitals, corporate houses, international banking, cellular service companies, IT & dotcom corporates & other customer-service related industries, said Kumar.
