Land for IIIT-MK in capital under consideration

The Kerala govt was examining the possibility of providing 10 acres at Pallipuram near Thiruvananthapuram for the IIT-MK to set up their permanent campus.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala government was examining the possibility of providing 10 acres at Pallipuram near here for the Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management to set up their permanent campus, Chief Minister V S Achutanandan told the assembly on Wednesday.

"The request of IIT-MK for land is under the active consideration of the government," he said while replying to a submission for setting up the campus here.

Though the government had earlier sanctioned 10 acres at the Technopark here, IIT-MK could not start its campus, he said, adding the land was then given to Tata Consultancy Services to set up their training centre

The TCS centre had already started functioning and nearly 8000 students have so far been trained, he added.
