Lakhs of students on Thursday appeared for their class 12 exam conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) at centres across the country and abroad.

NEW DELHI: Lakhs of students on Thursday appeared for their class 12 exam conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) at centres across the country and abroad.
As many as 5,02,688 students from 4,789 CBSE affiliated schools had registered themselves with the central education body for examination across various disciplines.
The class 12 examination is being conducted across 2,243 centres across the country and 33 centres in foreign countries.
The CBSE said there has been a 9.59 per cent increase in registration of students for examinations.
In Delhi, 1,56,257 students have registered for the Class-XII exams that are being held at 533 centres across the capital.
The board is making available to the students bulkier answer sheets so that students do not waste time asking for supplementary pages.
It will also introduce hi-tech optical character reading (OCR) sheets for computerised evaluation in science practicals for class X only.
The class X exams are scheduled to start tomorrow with the Social Sciences paper.
Over seven lakh students have registered themselves for the class X exams that will be held at 2,490 centres.
In Delhi, there are 2,07,317 candidates for Class-X examination that will be held across 555 centres.
