Karnataka inks agreement with State of Victoria

The Karnataka government today inked a three-year agreement with the Australian State of Victoria for collaboration in vocational education and skill building.

BANGALORE: The Karnataka government today inked a three-year agreement with the Australian State of Victoria for collaboration in vocational education and skill building.

"Through this agreement we will work together to build on the existing capability of the Karnataka vocational education and training workforce in areas such as leadership, management and training," Victoria's Minister for Education and Minister for Skills and Workforce-Participation Bronwyn Pike said.

Training skills will also be provided in areas such as sustainable construction and identifying opportunities for partnerships in educational institutions, she said.

"Delegations from Karnataka and Victoria will develop and complete an action plan in the first 90 days of the three-year agreement," she said.

"The agreement envisages sharing of faculty and sharing of students," said Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri at Vidhana Soudha.

Kageri said the delegations would explore options to expand collaboration to industries like aviation,construction, retail, marine engineering, tourism, food processing, banking and insurance, adding the details on funding and other issues were yet to be worked out.

The agreement encourages partnership between individual training institutes between the two countries, he said.
