JIPMER to tie up with universities in US for research projects
Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education will launch various initiatives with Boston Uni to promote public health care programmes.
A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting officials of the US Consul General in Chennai and the officials of the JIPMER held here today.
The US team of officials was headed by Consul General Jennifer McIntyre and had among others the Public Affairs Officer David Gainer and Professor Kevin Joseph McGirr, the Fulbright Nehru Visiting Scholar from the University of California, a release said here.
A US-India joint collaborative research on Tuberculosis would be launched soon in JIPMER as the Indian partner and the Boston University and the University of Medicine and Dentistry in New Jersey the as the US partner.
The research activity would be funded jointly by the US National Institute of Health and the Department of Biotechnology on the part of India.
JIPMER had also drawn up plans to host an International Summit on Emergency and Trauma here for five days from February 12, 2014.
