Institute of Banking and TUR to come up

All India Bank Officers' Association (AIBOA) would soon open an Institute of Banking and Trade Union Research at Mamallapuram.

TIRUCHIRAPALLI: All India Bank Officers' Association (AIBOA) would soon open an Institute of Banking and Trade Union Research at Mamallapuram.
The objective of the Institute was to develop the overall expertise of bank employees in "changing economic scenario", R J Sridharan, General Secretary of AIBOA, told the media.
Named after noted trade union leader Tarakeswar Chakraborti, the institute is located at a salubrious ambience along the Bay of Bengal close to the historic monuments of Mamallapuram.
With 11,000 sq ft of carpet area, the institute could accommodate 100 candidates at a time for training and research purposes, he said.
Experts in banking and trade union would be the faculty members.
Different training modules have been designed covering topics like banking credit, foreign exchange, new innovations for introducing bank products and constructive role of trade unions in moulding bank managements, he said.
Workshops on Trade Union achievements from its inception, and future tasks are also mooted.
The Rs 1.25 crore building is all set to be commissioned on June 2, 2007, he added.
