Indian School of Business starts academic year of post graduate programme in management

With 774 students across their Hyderabad and Mohali campuses, institute witnessed marked increase in the number of professionals coming from sectors.

NEW DELHI: The Indian School of Business ( ISB) has announced the commencement of the academic year for the Class of 2014 of its post graduate programme in management ( PGP), the institute said in a statement.

With 774 students across their Hyderabad and
Mohali campuses, the institute witnessed a marked increase in the number of professionals coming from sectors like PSU/government, fashion and healthcare this year.

The current batch has 33 professionals from organisations such as Indian railways, GAIL, BHEL, and ONGC among others. This class also witnessed a spurt in the number of medical doctors and professionals from the fashion industry. The rise in the number of professionals from these sectors, as compared to the previous year, can be attributed to the school's attempts to enhance its class diversity through the diversity scholarships launched last year.

In a bid to boost diversity, ISB had announced merit based scholarships for sectors like media, hospitality, healthcare and fashion to attract professionals from these sectors last year.

"The class of 2014 at ISB reflects the school's efforts to identify the best of talent and provide them with a rich learning experience that will expand the bounds of their thinking and set them on the path for long-term career progress," Deepak Chandra, deputy dean, ISB said in a statement.

The class has a combined batch size of 774 students, with 556 students at the Hyderabad campus and 218 in Mohali respectively.
