“We need to include an AI-based curriculum on the campus. We have to change the way we give projects and assignments to students. Otherwise, they will submit ChatGPT-prepared assignments. The tool can even write books,” he said while addressing the 34th Management Education Convention titled ‘Management Education: Harnessing The New Paradigm in Coimbatore.
Sitharam also mentioned plans for a comprehensive student registry, spanning from kindergarten to PhD levels. This registry, alongside the envisioned 'one nation and one data program,' aims to streamline administrative tasks and reduce redundancy in the education system.
“We at AICTE have created a transformation framework for both technical and management education. It involves four core focus areas such as research and innovation, startup and entrepreneurial activities, academics, and students’ centric approach,” he said.
Sitharam said that the University Grants Commission (UGC) and AICTE is workking to formulate guidelines for flexible entry and exit programs, applicable to PG diploma courses and MBAs, aligned with the new National Education Policy. He said that the education should be provided in regional languages and learning materials in the mother tongue, as it could help innovation in society.
Sitharam advocated for the integration of skill-based courses from an early stage, suggesting their introduction as early as Class VI. He lauded the NEP for opening the door to such reforms and highlighted AICTE's initiatives to offer management education in regional languages. Collaborations with institutions like IGNOU and the creation of textbooks in 13 languages are steps in this direction.
