Indian Institute of Technology (IIT)'s alumni from across the globe organises annual conferences to devise methods and strategies for the growth and development of the country.

BANGALORE: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT)'s alumni from across the globe organises annual conferences to devise methods and strategies for the growth and development of the country. This association called Pan IIT Alumni India, aims to contribute back to the country by playing an advisory and catalytic role for developing Indian economy.

Pradeep Gupta, chairman of Pan IIT says, "Our mission is four-fold - proactive contribution to nation building, networking opportunities for members of the IIT system, contribute to the alma mater and hold annual conferences to look at new and innovative ways to contribute to the development of the country."

Some initiatives by Pan IIT is an innovative fund by ministries of Rs 50 crores to develop technologies that benefit rural India, creating small advisory groups to explore technology solutions for challenges faced by India and adoption of PiTech magazine to publish the research conducted by IITians.

Initiatives have been also taken for advancing computing technology, water harvesting and rural technology. The next global conference will be held in Mumbai from December 23 to 25."The mission of the event for IITians is to inspire, involve and transform Indian economy," adds Gupta.
