IIT-Kharagpur to go by centre's directive

KHARAGPUR: Premier technical institute Indian Institute of Technology (IIT-Kharagpur) on Tuesday said it would strictly adhere to the directive of the Centre on admission for the new academic session and it has enough time as the new session would begin in August.
"We will not do anything without the directive of the Centre," Prof S K Dubey, Director of IIT, Kharagpur, told the media.
He said the Institute had enough time to take a decision on this as the admission process was still going on.
"We are not in hurry as the results of the admission test will be out on May 30 and only then will admission begin. So, we can afford to wait," Prof Dubey said.
To a query he said IIT, Kharagpur, accommodates over 1000 students in the graduation course.
The Supreme Court has stayed the government's move to reserve 27 per cent seats in premier educational institutes like IIMs and IITs for OBCs and later on a plea for vacation of the order the apex court fixed May 8 as the date of hearing.
