IIT Bombay most sought-after campus among top 2000 JEE rankholders

IIT Delhi will have 332 students among the top 2000; followed by IIT Kanpur with 251; IIT Kharagpur with 249 and IIT Madras with 21.

MUMBAI: Around 23% of the top 2000 rankholders in JEE (Advanced) this year have opted to study at IIT Bombay, ensuring its position as the most sought-after campus among the 18 IITs and ISM Dhanbad. 456 of these 2000 picked the elite Bombay institute which has also attracted 64 of the top 100 and 174 of the top 500 rankholders.

IIT Delhi will have 332 students among the top 2000; followed by IIT Kanpur with 251; IIT Kharagpur with 249 and IIT Madras with 213.

These are the figures after Round 2 of allocation of seats across these premier engineering institutes.

The newer IITs found far fewer takers among the top 2000 rank holders. Just 11 among the top 2000 will be taking up seats in IIT Ropar; 15 in IIT Indore and 1 each in IIT Mandi and IIT Gandhinagar. No student among the top 2000 rankholders were at IIT Bhubaneswar, Jodhpur, Patna, Palakkad and Tirupati.
