IIMA looking for global branding

"We are trying to raise brand image in Dubai, London and other places" said Arvind Sahay, Dean Alumni & External Relations, IIMA to press.

AHMEDABAD: Global branding is the next big thing that Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM-A) is vying for. The strategy is to connect all alumina with faculty and institute and build ‘IIM brand’ globally.

"We are trying to raise brand image in Dubai, London and other places" said Arvind Sahay, Dean Alumni & External Relations, IIMA at the press meet. Confirming the development, Ashish Nanda, Director, IIMA said "IIMA brand building process going on since 9 months".

According to Prof Arvind Sahay, theme based events are been organized in difference geographical location wherever there are presence of IIMA Alumina chapters. "Currently talks are held with IIMA Alumina Delhi Chapter for an event" he said.

Last year, theme based events and interaction were held at IIMA Alumina Chapter in Dubai, Mumbai, New York, Boston, Chicago, Bay Area, US, London and Chennai. Events were related to interaction, IIMA Director visits, how to ensure IIMA is globally relevant, Indian legal system in changing times, investors must manage risk carefully and dean-AER interaction with Alumni. Soon IIMA director will interact with alumni at Bangalore.

"We are also looking this time to have a pan IIM event at Singapore in August" says Mr Sahay, however he mentioned it’s too early to finalize the event. He further said that institution is reaching out individual alumina chapter across geography that can be helpful in growth of IIM brand.

IIMA is also coming up with Alumina magazine in electronic version within next one year. According to Sahay, IIMA is trying to build community of well wisher and friends.

Apart from these, the press meet also addressed on the faculty issue, new addition and up-gradation of existing management programmes at IIMA and increase number of women faculty issues.

On Friday, Prof. Ashish Nanda, Director, IIMA along with Prof Ajay Pandey, Dean Programmes, Prof. G. Raghuram, Dean Faculty and Prof Arvind Sahay, Dean Alumni & External Relations jointly interact with media persons to share future directions and recent developments at the Institute.
