IIM-C, IITs roll out PG programme in manufacturing

IIMC, IITK and IITM formally launched the post-graduate programme for executives for visionary leadership in manufacturing.

KOLKATA: Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta (IIMC), Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur (IITK) and Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IITM) formally launched the post-graduate programme for executives for visionary leadership in manufacturing (PGPEX-VLMP).

The programme, aimed at development of leaders in the manufacturing sector, will receive active support from the Japanese government through facilitation of lectures by Japanese manufacturing experts and visits to Japanese centres of manufacturing excellence. The industry is also involved in the design of the course and support of the programme through sponsorships, arranging industry visits and internships.

Speaking at the inauguration, Japanese consul-general Noro Motoyoshi said: “This is a very important development, in that, it marks the collaboration between two governments in industry and academia.” The VLM programme is being launched under the aegis of National Manufacturing Competitiveness Council and the Union ministry of human resource development with the support of industry.
