IIM Bangalore director, Pankaj Chandra steps down

Pankaj Chandra, director of Indian Institute of Bangalore (IIM) stepped down from his post, with his extended term getting over on Tuesday.

MUMBAI: Pankaj Chandra, director of Indian Institute of Bangalore ( IIM) stepped down from his post, with his extended term getting over on Tuesday. Chandra was appointed director in December 2007 and accepted an extension after his term got over in December 2012. The institute confirmed that Devanath Tirupati, dean academics for the institute will take over the reigns till further intimation from chairman and board of governors of the management college.

Tirupati is an Indian Institute of Technology, Madras and IIM Calcutta alumnus, who did his PhD from Sloan School of Management.

Chandra, a professor in Production and Operation Management, did his bachelors in technology from Banaras Hindu University and a PhD from the Wharton School. He taught in IIM Ahmedabad as well before IIM B and specialized in subjects like Supply Chain Coordination, Manufacturing Management, Technology Networks and Building Technological Capabilities in Manufacturing.

Last month, IIM A too appointed a new director, Ashish Nanda, a professor from Harvard University after former director Samir Barua's term got over in November, 2012.
