IIM-A to organise Sectorama final on January 19
In the preliminary round, 1,500 students from across the country participated and tried to identify the most critical issues in key sectors and proposed solutions.
‘Sectorama’ is a national level sector-analysis competition for B-Schools and it is the largest of its kind in India. The focus sectors for this year include energy, telecom, financial services, IT/ITeS, FMCG industry and aviation.
“The event kicked off with the preliminary round on December 11, where more than 1,500 students from the top B-Schools including the IIMs at Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Calcutta, Lucknow, Indore, Kozhikode, and ISB participated. The participants have been provided with a problem statement from each of the focus sectors and are required to come up with innovative solutions to tackle them. The top 12 teams from the preliminary round and a subsequent screening round will be flown down to the IIM Ahmedabad campus on January 19 to present their solutions” said, Ashutosh Sinha, co-ordinator of the Consult Club at IIM Ahmedabad.
Students' teams from IIM-A, ISB, IIM-Lucknow, IIM-Indore, IIM-Trichy, IIFT and SCIT have entered final round of the competition.
The club is organising the event in association with Breakthrough Management Group India (BMGI), a management consulting firm who are also the strategic partners for the student-run club. Naresh T Raisinghani, CEO & Executive Director, BMGI – India Division, said “We wanted to leverage the vast intellectual capital in the B-Schools for addressing the problems faced in the Indian economy. We are looking forward to some really innovative and practical solutions being recommended by some of the best minds who would have a fresh outlook.”
