IIM-A to enter 50th year in December 2010
IIM-A has planned a number of events to mark its golden jubilee year of establishment in December this year, director Samir Barua said today.
"Our 50th year begins on December 11, 2010. We are planning to hold a series of conferences and workshops on what we call as emerging ideas. These conferences and workshops will showcase the contributions made by the IIM-A faculties and also others contribution to this institute," Barua said.
"We want to ensure that the case studies and the pedagogy gets propagated in good manner. It has also been planned to showcase the contributions of IIM-A alumni in different sectors, including those who have contributed significantly in social development field," he said.
Barua said that they also want to highlight the contribution of the institute in policy making. "Also we would like to put forward our agenda about what we need to do in the next 10 years," he added.
The 50th year celebrations begin with the mega alumni meet in December. According to the director, there are over 8000 alumni of the institutes's flagship programmes, while if all the courses are taken into consideration the figure of alumni would cross 60,000.
