IIM-A meet to discuss OBC quota implementation on Saturday
Board of Governors of the Indian Institute of Management-Ahmedabad (IIM-A) will meet on Saturday to finalise implementation of the 27 per cent OBC reservation.
The meeting will discuss all the pending issues including the implementation of the quota, sources in IIM-A said.
The faculty council of the IIM-A will also be meeting tomorrow to discuss the issues, they said.
The IIM-A is in the process of finalising implementation of 27 per cent OBC reservation from this year following the go-ahea given by the Supreme Court and the Union Human Resources Development Ministry's directing all the centrally-funded educational institutes, including IITs and IIMs, to implement the OBC reservation from this year sans creamy layer.
"The 27 per cent OBC quota will be implemented in phases as per the recommendations of the Moily Committee. IIM-A does not have the infrastructure for implementing the quota in one go," IIM-A Director Sameer Barua said.
The final admission list of the IIMs which was to be released on April 11, was put off after the Supreme Court judgement on 27 per cent reservation for OBCs.
"The date of release of the list is not decided yet," Barua said.
