IIM-A execs batch's ready for industry training
Even as the batch of post-graduate programme for executives (PGPX) candidates at IIM-A is set to leave for industry immersion (training), the top industry players are already queuing up to hire them.
The candidates are selected by companies many of whom later absorb. Corporates like GE, Unilever, IBM, Posco, Wipro and others will come to the IIM-A in January for final placements.
While a lot of PGPX students will work with FMCG, retail and consulting firms as a part of industry immersion, not many have offers from investment banks. “Investment banks mostly recruit fresh candidates from the post-graduate programme (PGP). Not many go for PGPX (executives) students,” said IIM-A PGPX head Arvind Sahay.
The candidates going for immersion programmes abroad will spend terms at university of British Columbia, Vancouver, Columbia Business School, Amsterdam Business School, Frankfurt School of Finance and Management and Chinese University of Hongkong. IIM-A has also recently tied up with University of Texas at Austin and is in talks with Warwick Business School, UK and Gordon Institute of Business Science, University of Pretoria, South Africa for collaboration in this area.
