IIIT, Carnegie Mellon to offer software mgmt course
Hyderabad-Based International Institute of Information Technology is joining hands with the Carnegie Mellon University to offer executive programme in management of software systems and development .
“The course will not only focus on the software or technical aspects but also discuss problems related to people,” said Lynn Robert Carter, principal fellow, Institute for Software Research International (School of Computer Science), CMU.
Talking to ET, he said, the programme was designed to target the issues that the global best practice certifications such as CMM, CMMI and P-CMM could not address. “This could be considered as the next step to progressive change. Though the global best practices could ensure certain standards in technology processes and people, it failed to connect both in an effective manner. As a result, organisations worldwide are facing people management issues especially attrition,” he explained.
According to him, MSSD is an effort to build a ‘gold collar’ workforce. “It will have a direct fallout on two major counts — greater employee satisfaction and improved profitability leading to high success rate,” he added.
