IGNOU to launch diploma course in BPO
With BPO emerging as a major employment generating sector, Indira Gandhi National Open University will start a diploma programme on the subject to provide special training to students.

NEW DELHI : With BPO emerging as a major employment generating sector, Indira Gandhi National Open University will start a diploma programme on the subject to provide special training to students.
IGNOU in collaboration with the global management and outsourcing giant Accenture Services Pvt Ltd will develop a diploma programme to provide comprehensive training and career opportunities in the BPO sector, varsity sources said.
"BPO is a growing industry and the demand of trained manpower is huge. We want to create a talent pool to further catalyse the growth of this sector," a senior official said.
The one-year programme will impart the skills required for BPO services and help them develop personal computing and communication abilities.
The diploma programme will comprise specialised courses in disciplines related to the industry such as financed accounting, insurance, Banking, Human Resources, Customer Contact services, Sourcing and category management, Healthcare among several others.
The eligibility criterion for the new programme will be CBSE 10+2 or equivalent. The applicants will also need to have passed the IGNOU's certificate course in communications skills or an equivalent programme.
