At present IGNOU has around 18 lakh students on its roll. The university has recently signed an MoU with Mahanagar Telecom Nigam Limited (MTNL)to set up an integrated updated telecom system within the campus, which is is likely to start functioning by September end.

The system will enable better connect and quick dissemination of information. It will also send group SMS and consolidate learner's communication connectivity with the educators.
