Hyderabad varsity's UG students organise international conference

Integrated Masters Students (UG) of the University organised the two-day conference on 'Online Resources in Advancing Knowledge and Skills and Their Implementation'.

HYDERABAD: In a refreshing initiative, the undergraduate students themselves have organised an international conference here much to the delight of faculty at University of Hyderabad.

Integrated Masters Students (UG) of the University organised the two-day conference on ' Online Resources in Advancing Knowledge and Skills and Their Implementation' for the UG students, which commenced today.

More than 30 papers are being presented in the conference, under the EU-India project 'Enhancing quality, Access and Governance of Undergraduate Education in India (EQUAL)', by the students from India, the UK and Italy, said Prof K C James Raju, conference convener, India-EU project, University of Hyderabad.

Besides paper presenters, another 100 students from Hyderabad and other parts of India are also attending the conference, which is focused on discussing about challenges in enhancing the quality of undergraduate education through E-Learning, especially in view of the digital divide in India.

Prof R Siva Prasad said, "Students did everything... right from screening abstracts to selecting papers to chairing (conference) sessions. It's for the first time in India that an international conference is organised by under graduate students."

The students organised the event with the guidance from project faculty.
