NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court on Tuesday sought explanation from Amity University and Delhi government after a candidate alleged violation of rules in admissions to Amity Law school and restrained them from declaring final list of students.
The Court was hearing a petition filed by 17-year-old Samar Khan, who alleged that he was denied admission to the law school on management quota despite a better rank then others.
Justice S Ravinder Bhatt, after brief hearing of the counsel appearing for Khan said, "Having gone through the documents presented in the Court, Guru Govind Singh Indraprastha University is restrained from approving the admission list of Amity Law School."
The Court also sought response from the Bar Council of India and Guru Govind Singh Indraprastha University, to which the Amity School is affiliated.
Vinod Rawat, Khan's lawyer, contended before the Court, "Out of 16 students selected in the final list for admission, six candidates are below the rank obtained by Samar and he has been placed in waiting list."
The Court will hear the stand of the university and the government on September 3.
