Haryana collaborating with Sweden on education

The Haryana Forest Department in collaboration with the Swedish Government has proposed to set up an Indian Institute for Sustainable Development and Environmental Technology.

CHANDIGARH: The Haryana Forest Department in collaboration with the Swedish Government has proposed to set up an Indian Institute for Sustainable Development and Environmental Technology (IISDET) at Sohana in district Gurgoan. Disclosing this here today, State Minister for Forest and Tourism Kiran Choudhry said that a detailed discussion was held in a meeting with the Sweden Environment Minister, Andreas Carlgren and Minister for the Environment and Sweden Ambassador, Lars Olof Lindgren at New Delhi.

She said that various possibilities were discussed on areas of sustainable development, environment, agro forestry based CDM projects and for setting up of IISDET in collaboration with Swedish Government.

The Minister said that IISDET would house in the existing Natural Resource Management Centre of Haryana Forest Department. She said that the Centre was at the distance of 50 km from Delhi airport and spread in the area of five hectares with adequate land available for further expansion.

She said that the centre was well equipped with training and conference facility and has 20 rooms in its executive hostels.

Choudhry said that the centre would be further strengthened and had full potential to be developed into an international institute in collaboration with Swedish Government.
