NEW DELHI: Super 30 founder Anand Kumar has been invited by edX, an online learning destination promoted by Harvard University and MIT, to teach mathematics.

Kumar established Super 30 in 2002 to offer free coaching to poor students seeking admission to IITs. It selects 30 meritorious students from economically backward sections of society and prepares them for the IIT entrance exam.

As edX also offers a few courses free of cost, MIT professor Anant Agarwal said in a letter to Kumar that the format and purpose of edX and Super 30 had similarities in several aspects and if they worked together, a large number of students from across the world could benefit from it.

Kumar, who could not study at Cambridge University due to financial constraints, said it was heartening that institutions like MIT and Harvard were not only praising the efforts of Super 30 but also trying to make it part of their system.

“I am very happy that an organisation like edX is working with positive thinking about poor and disadvantage groups. I am thinking on the offer. Let’s see how I can help students from across the world,” he said.
