HAL to drop in at IIM campuses for hiring
HAL is planning to visit IIM campuses across India for the first time for its recruitment campaign in August ’06.
With this move HAL will join the league of few public sector companies like BPCL, HPCL, ISRO and NTPC who have participated in the earlier IIM campus placements. HAL recently inducted over 550 engineers from various engineering colleges. The recruitment drive covered all the IITs in Chennai, Mumbai, Roorkie, Guwahati and NITs at Warangal and Allahabad.
HAL is planning to cover all the IIT & IIM campuses for a second round of placement campaign in August ’06. The company is aiming to hire about 75-100 students from these two institutes for managerial positions with starting salary offer of around Rs 20,000 per month.
Sanjeev Sahi, director-personnel, HAL, says, ”Being a PSU with salary limitations it is a challenge for us to hire students from IITs & IIMs. However, our strength lies in the intense technological design and aerospace development work opportunity, which puts the skills of an engineer to its fullest use.”
Mr Sahi says, “HAL also provides an opportunity to work on challenging defence-oriented projects like Intermediate Jet Trainer, Advanced Light Helicopter & Light Combat Aircraft. The performance-oriented intellectual growth makes up for the low compensation.”
