'Greater flexibility required to sustain IIMs'

Outgoing IIM-A head Bakul Dholakia calls for greater flexibility and change in governance pattern for institutions of higher learning.

AHMEDABAD: There is a need for greater flexibility and a change in governance pattern for institutions of higher learning to achieve global standards, outgoing head of a premier management school of the country has said.

"For the IIM-A to sustain its excellence, these needed to be sustained," Bakul Dholakia, outgoing head of Indian Institute of Management-Ahmedabad (IIM-A) said.

"In an everyday changing environment and increased globalisation, it becomes necessary for us to adopt a global framework for governance to withstand foreign pressure and achieve world standards," Dholakia said.
