Govt releases Rs 9,359 cr for Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan
A total of Rs 9,359 crore has been released to various states and union territories during 2007-08 for implementation of the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA).
Bihar has been given a sum of Rs 1,354 crore followed by Rajasthan Rs 1,013 crore during the period.
Government has released Rs 9,359 crore to states and union territories against the Central Budget support of Rs 10,671 crore provided in the Budget Estimates 2007-08 for the implementation of the flagship programme.
To further speed up the SSA programme during 2007-08, supplementary grant of Rs 2,300 crore has been obtained, an official release said on Monday.
