Govt. engineering college for Dharmapuri soon: Minister
A government engineering would be established here in the next financial year, Tamil Nadu Agirculture Minister Veerapandi S Arumugam has said.
PWD Officials had been asked to identify the site for the proposed college, he said at a school function here.
To ensure educational development in the state, Chief Minister M Karunanidhi had been taking various initiatives and the proposed college was aimed at providing higher education opportunities to students of the district, he said.
Participating in the Dharmapuri Government Avvaiyar Girls Higher Secondary School's 150th year celebration function, he said no girl should be left without education in the district. Officials should also monitor and ensure there were no dropouts especially girls.
Stating that there was lack of infrastructure like furniture in schools, he said that the Chief Minister, on a request by the Ministers, had allotted Rs.69.11 crore to establish infrastructure in all government schools in the state, under which about 1.91 lakh benches, 15,845 table and chairs would be provided to Dharmapuri district.
He said Karunanidhi had already ordered establishment of Government Medical College here.
