Govt engineering college branch at Nettapakkam
The territorial administration is considering a proposal to set up a branch of the government engineering college at Nettapakkam.
Inaugurating a week-long training programme for women to augment their skills to take up self-employment projects under a scheme of Department of Labour at Nettapakkam yesterday, Vaithilingam said, he had held discussions in this regard with the Education Minister M O H F Shahjahan.
He also said that the Industries Department had plans to promote micro industries commune-wise so that the local women and youth could get opportunities to start units to manufacture components needed for farm implements. They would also be trained to take up repair works of automobiles.
An Industrial Training Institute would start functioning in the next three months in Nettapakkam and a building to house it was being constructed at a cost of Rs 2.5 crore.
