GIM launches new PG Diploma programme in healthcare management

The Goa Institute of Management (GIM) has introduced a new programme - post Graduate Diploma in Healthcare Management (PGDM-HCM).

PANAJI: The Goa Institute of Management ( GIM) has introduced a new programme - post Graduate Diploma in Healthcare Management (PGDM-HCM), a senior official said here today.

GIM Director Sunil Rai told PTI that the PGDM-HCM is one of its unique kind which is equivalent to MBA.

"With the healthcare industry in India valued at well over Rs 150,000 crores and witnessing a phenomenal growth over the last two decades, there has been a greater interest in specialised management development programs aimed at the industry," he said.

Total 60 students from 17 states have already enrolled for this programme, which would be conducted from institute's campus at Ribandar, near here.

Rai said that the programme has been designed along the lines of the best healthcare management programs in the world, under the guidance of senior industry and academic experts.

GIM officials said that the two-year full time residential program boasts of a dedicated experienced healthcare management faculty, interactions with industry experts and access to an exhaustive and comprehensive collection of databases.

Field based experentials including visits to hospitals and pharmaceutical plants and projects on working of primary health centres as well as large corporate hospitals form part of the curriculum, he said.
