French B-school to take in more Indian students

Euromed Marseille, which is among France’s top 20 B-schools, is looking to increase the number of Indian students on rolls.

NEW DELHI: Euromed Marseille, which is among France’s top 20 B-schools, is looking to increase the number of Indian students on rolls.

A niche international masters in management programme (MSc) with a specialisation in NGO management and good governance is being focused to attract students from India.

“We feel Indian students will help us achieve our new goal of bringing diversity to our classrooms. While, we already have exchange programmes with IIM-Bangalore; FMS, Delhi, Narsee Monjee, Mumbai and XIM, Bhubaneshwar, we feel the one-year NGO management course will add a lot of value for students here seeking a career in developmental work.

Many of our former students have top jobs at UN and its various arms. Besides, we are also part of the prestigious global compact launched by UN secretary general Kofi Annan, which promotes the concept of responsible and ethical industry,” says Jean-Christophe Carteron, marketing manager, Euromed.

While the course fees for the 12-month Msc in NGO management is e6,500, foreign students would need to spend another e5,000-6,000 towards living expenses in Marseille. “The NGO management course is completely in English and is very popular with European companies and students.

We feel the growing focus on sustainable development and corporate governance and environmental issues globally will make it attractive in India too,” Mr Carteron said. Euromed which has 31% foreign students out of a total of 2,300 in graduate and undergrad courses, aims to scale up to 50% by ‘08.

“China and India provide the largest numbers of foreign students in our classrooms,” says Mr Carteron. The B-school also offers specialised masters programmes in NGO and public management and management of social services organisations which are meant for professionals with around three years experience. The duration of these courses are for seven months with four months of specialised placement interventions.
