Fee hike to help cover rising costs
Major B-schools are set to hike tution fees from the ’07-08 session. TAPMI (TA Pai Management Institute Manipal) will hike fees tentatively by Rs 50,000.
“This decision has been taken partly to recover a portion of the Rs 50-crore loan taken by us to fund our new campus slated to be operational by next year,” said D Nagabrahmam, director, TAPMI.
Kolkata’s Indian Institute of Social Welfare and Business Management (IISWBM) is also likely to join the bandwagon. “Our institute cross-subsidises several lesser-popular programmes with the surplus generated by the regular MBA programme. And given the rising costs, we are likely to revise the course fees from the next academic session,” said Ashoke K Dutta, director, IISWBM.
Most students appearing for CAT, XAT and other entrance exams this year, however, have to wait for some time to know the exact hike. B-schools usually specify the exact tuition fees in their offer letters, which they send to students from March onwards.
