Damania to set up pilot training centre

KOLKATA: Parvez Damania, of the erstwhile Damania Airways fame, is finalising plans to set up a pilot training institute in Maharashtra.
Excellence Aviation Academy (EAA), a company floated by Mr Damania, intends to invest about Rs 35 crore in the facility which will have a fleet of 10 aircraft to provide commercial pilot licence.
For starters, EAA has approached the Directorate General of Civil Aviation for the necessary clearance. The company intends to set up the facility in the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) airport in Kolhapur. The pilot training school is expected to be operational by December.
Chairman Parvez Damania said, “We have already applied for land to set up the facility in MIDC airport at Kolhapur. We will acquire 10 Cesna 172R aircraft from US-based Textron Inc for the training centre as soon as we receive DGCA clearances.”
