NEW DELHI: A day after IIM Ahmedabad director Bakul Dholakia announced that the IIM admission list would be declared on April 21, the ministry of human resource development said it’s yet to receive any communication from the IIMs. In the absence of an official communication from the IIMs, it is not clear whether the institutes will be able to go ahead with their plan. In the event there is no clarity from the judiciary on this, things might just get worse.

The government had, in its order of April 5, asked the IIMs to keep their admission list on hold. A decision as to when the final list would be put up can only be taken after the matter is settled in the court, once the government files its petition. The government is likely to move the apex court in this connection on Monday. Meanwhile, the ministry of human resource development maintains that government orders are sacrosanct.
