Computer Society of India elects Dr Anirban Basu as new president

Computer Society of India (CSI), the largest and oldest body representing Indian computer professionals, has elected Dr Anirban Basu as its new president.

MUMBAI: Computer Society of India ( CSI), the largest and oldest body representing Indian computer professionals, has elected Dr Anirban Basu as its new president.

Basu, an MTech in electronics and a PhD in computer science, has more than 30 years of experience in academia, advanced R&D, software industry, consultancy and corporate training.

He has played a significant role in developing India’s first supercomputer PARAM and in the growth of Computer Science Education and Research in the country. He started his career in Indian Statistical Institute in 1979, and joined CDAC in 1989 to play a key role in design, development and performance analysis of PARAM.

He also served as vice president of CSI last year.

CSI formed in 1965 is a national body that has been instrumental in guiding the Indian IT industry since its formative years. It has 73 chapters all over India, over 500 student branches, and more than 100,000 members including the country’s top IT industry leaders, brilliant scientists and dedicated academicians.
