Company secretary body ties up with BSE for investor education

The investor awareness programmes will be conducted through different universities and colleges across Maharashtra and Goa.

NEW DELHI: In a bid to spread awareness on financial markets, the western India regional council of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India ( ICSI) has announced collaboration with BSE and the ministry of corporate affairs (MCA) to conduct around 100 investor awareness programmes in Maharashtra and Goa in the next three months.

Over the years, Western Regional Council has taken various initiatives towards growth and development of the profession and this is one of our initiatives to spread knowledge of the financial market among the investor community across the region. We hope many investors spread across small towns and remote locations in the western region will avail of the opportunity to gain knowledge about the financial market through these programmes, Mahavir Lunawat, chairman of ICSI-Western India Regional Council said in a statement.

SMA Millath, regional director, ministry of corporate affairs added: The decision to conduct 100 investor programmes in a short span of 3 months was exciting. Through these programmes, we will be able to reach out to investors who live in small towns and remote locations, and do not have easy access to information.

The investor awareness programmes will be conducted through different universities and colleges across Maharashtra and Goa. Some of the areas identified in Maharashtra include Pune, Sangali, Kolhapur, Sindhudurg, Ahmednagar, Aurangabad, Nashik, and Jalgaon.
