Community colleges must be set up in Assam, says CM Tarun Gogoi

GUWAHATI: In the lines of community colleges of United States, Assam wants Union Human Resources Development ( HRD) ministry to set up community colleges in Assam.

Assam chief minister, Tarun Gogoi on Friday met Union Human Resources Development Minister Kapil Sibal in New Delhi and urged him to explore US community college model and to set up such colleges in Assam.

Gogoi visited community colleges of US in June this year. He said,"In the US, community colleges are crucial to providing an affordable education and promoting economic development," Gogoi said, adding, "Such colleges must be set up in the country, including Assam."
