CIPHET begins training on onion drying, flakes and powder

NEW DELHI: The business planning and development unit of Central Institute of Post Harvest Engineering and Technology (CIPHET) at Ludhiana has started a training programme on onion drying and onion flakes and powder' for farmers of Maharashtra and Punjab.

S.N Jha , director, CIPHET said, "various products including powder and paste could be prepared from onion"". This would help farmers to get better prices during glut and stability in market during the shortage of onions,"he said. Current prices of onion in most markets of the country were ruling at Rs 50-70 a kg

Looking at the demand, the center would start training on green chilli powder and puree from October 7, 2013.
