CII to set up Centre of Excellence in Rajasthan
CII in collaboration in Rajasthan govt is setting up a Centre of Excellence for Skills Development in Bhiwadi. The industry body will be setting up 30 such Centre of Excellence across the country.
The Centre would offer a range of services in the fields of vocational training, curriculum development, faculty training amongst others. Each centre will typically need 3-4 acres and an investment of Rs 10 crore. CII northern region chairman Vijay Thadani told ET that these centres would be managed by a council of stake holders including CII, local industry and the respective state governments.
“Each centre will adopt cluster-based growth approach and conduct training programmes in specific traits after skill gap study in that particular geographical area. There will be requirement of over 500 million skilled people in next 10 years. Professionals passing out of these centres will be treated as national resource and would be placed across the country as per the need,” he said.
In Rajasthan , CII already has collaborated with state government to adopt 44 Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) and a research institute on water.
Apart from that, the industry body will also roll out technical training institutes - Skill Gurukul - in collaboration with Pan-IIT Alumni, Reach for India, an organization set up by a group of former IIT students. These institutes will work for rural skill development with annual training capacity of 10,000 candidates per annum through residential gurukul system. Targeting drop-out boys in the age group of 18-32 years, the organisation will be offering 30-45 days training in various trades for jobs in industries throughout the country.
