China to team up with India in R&D

A Chinese delegation will visit IIT Kanpur to explore possibilities of working in the field of R&D in India.

KANPUR: A delegation from China will visit the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur next month to explore possibilities of working in tandem with India in the field of research and development (R&D).

Director of IIT-Kanpur Sanjay Govind Dhande said China has shown interest in working with India in the field of research and development.

"A delegation, including Second Secretary of Science and Technology in the Chinese Embassy in India Wu Feng and the Counsel for Science and Technology Wang Qiming, would be visiting IIT-Kanpur on September 23 to explore the areas in which the two nation can work together," he said.

Dhande said another delegation of Chinese scientist would visit India after this delegation submits its report to the higher authorities in Beijing.

A team of scientist from the institute had visited China last month where the Chinese scientists had shown their interest to work with India in the areas of Biology, Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering.

The Chinese team's visit follows an earlier visit by a delegation of American scientists and officials from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) on July 10 and August 6 respectively where they have agreed to work with India in the field of research and development.
