NEW DELHI: Children on Wednesday got an exclusive corner for themselves in the Parliament library where apart from inculcating good reading habits they can increase their knowledge through a multi-media section and digitised books.

"Parliament occupies a pivotal position in the country. It is essentially a bridge between people and the government. So it is essential that we have a children's corner as they are the future of the country," Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee said inaugurating the corner.

The Speaker urged that marginalised sections of society, who do not have access to good and resourceful libraries, should avail the facility of children's corner.

"The corner would be developed with very good collection of books and digital material such as CDs and DVDs and even films, particularly on nature, wildlife, history and culture," he said.

Minister for Women and Child Development Renuka Chowdhary said the children's corner has been developed to inculcate reading habits among children.
