CFA Institute launches global exam programme for financial services industry

MUMBAI: CFA Institute, the global association for investment professionals, on Wednesday launched the Claritas Investment Certificate, a new global examination programme for professionals in the financial services industry who enable investment decision making. The programme will open for global registrations in May.

Currently, 68 organisations and over 3,000 candidates are taking part in the pilot programme launched in India. The first pilot exams are scheduled for late March.

The programme is aimed at giving an understanding of the essentials of the financial services industry to a broad range of professionals who work alongside those in core investment roles. The programme is ideal for the many different people in the financial services industry who are not directly involved in analysing or making investment decisions.

"Building and maintaining trust in the financial services industry is at the heart of our mission at CFA Institute and the Claritas Investment Certificate was born out of our firm belief that clarity and knowledge will help achieve this," said John Rogers, president and CEO, CFA Institute. Claritas will enable those working across financial services to be more effective, knowledgeable and responsible professionals, said Rogers.

Claritas will provide a foundational level of education aimed at increasing level of knowledge and understanding of the investment industry for the many professional disciplines within financial services, including consultancy, compliance, marketing and sales, legal, human resources, IT and operations, the institute said in a statement.

The new programme is made up of seven self-study modules covering the industry overview, ethics and regulations, tools and inputs, investment instruments, industry structure, industry controls and serving clients' needs.
