CAT group assures a hassle-free test
While lakhs of IIM aspirants are preparing for the Common Admission Test (CAT), the exam conducting cell at IIMs - CAT group - is leaving no stone unturned to see the exams through.
“With the number of aspirants increasing by over 33%, the manpower involved in management of test, has been increased accordingly,” informed a member. The IIM authorities are tight-lipped about the test, but the institutes seem to be satisfied with the level of preparation for the test. While last year, IIMs faced criticism due to serious errors in the questions, three years back it was paper leak.
The core group of CAT is working hard to avoid issues this year. The CAT group comprises the admissions chairman of all the including IIMs - Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Kolkata, Indore, Kozhikode and Lucknow. This year, there are 23 test centres across the country for conducting the test. “There were errors in questions last year so we are being extra careful this year. We have tried our best to ensure that material going for printing is correct,” informed admissions chairperson of IIM-Bangalore, Mr Subashish Gupta.
The CAT group has taken all measures to ensure there are no printing errors and has also made all security arrangements and have conducted a detailed examination to locate the areas that need improvement. The CAT group will also continue with the squad of special police reserve as contingency.
Like last year, this year the students will get two and half hours without break to answer the questions. Last year, the number of questions had been decreased so this year the aspirants continue being worried about the number of questions and weightage. Apart from coveted IIMs, over 111 other management schools use CAT scores to shortlist candidates of admissions to their programmes.
