While addressing a meet of Computer Society of India (CSI) here on Friday, Infosys CEO S Gopalakrishnan said some US universities have evinced interest in its campus connect programme.

This programme focuses on aligning the needs of engineering colleges, the faculty and students with the needs of the industry. Though, nothing has been finalised as yet, the Infosys CEO said that US universities are keen on adopting its academic materials for the faculty and not for the students.

Currently, Campus Connect reaches out to 380 colleges in the country and in the recent past has been extended to countries like Malaysia and Singapore.

Campus Connect was started by Infosys in 2004 with some of initiatives include: seminars and faculty workshops in colleges, working with education bodies to help college curriculum with industry requirements, sabbatical for professors to pursue research interests with Infosys and project work for students.

Mr Gopalakrishnan said these initiatives are needed to create industry ready professionals as there was a severe shortage.
