Cairn-IFC sets up enterprise centre in Rajasthan

US based International Financial Corporation and Cairn has set up an Enterprise Centre to impart training for semi-skilled workers and capacity building for micro, small and medium enterprises.

BARMER: US based International Financial Corporation and Cairn has set up an Enterprise Centre to impart training for semi-skilled workers and capacity building for micro, small and medium enterprises, an official spokesman said on Sunday.

The first four training programmes comprised of 20-25 participants each trade aimed at employability enhancement of local youth, is scheduled to commence on July 1 from the Barmer ITI Enterprise Centre premises, the official said.

The Centre would enable enterprise participants to develop capacities of MSMEs to become local suppliers to Cairn India and its contractors.

It would also facilitate access to finance for SMEs and micro-entrepreneurs, helping establish and expand their businesses, collect and disseminate information on employment opportunities, enterprise development, government schemes and potential contracts and tenders.

The other major developmental works carried out by Cairn India in Rajasthan are rural dairy project to create alternative income-generating activities for rural households, child and maternal health awareness projects for women and children in rural areas, water in the Thar desert initiative and sight savers eye case programme.

Cairn and ONGC are working on a joint project of petroleum crude oil excavation in a number of wells at Barmer.
