BU to upgrade study infrastructure
Bombay University (BU) is set for a makeover this year. With the 150th year celebrations starting from Tuesday, the university has planned a lot of education initiatives, said Vijay Khole, Vice Chancellor (VC), BU.
MUMBAI: Bombay University (BU) is set for a makeover this year. With the 150th year celebrations starting from Tuesday, the university has planned a lot of education initiatives, said Vijay Khole, Vice Chancellor (VC), BU.
The university has already collected more than Rs 300 crore through various funds which will be used for launching many new initiatives in the coming year as part of the celebrations.
To begin with, the university will host an all India VC meet headed by Sharad Pawar in a few months from now. The convocation for the passing out batch, which takes place in December will be attended by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
Besides this, the university will play host to many international conferences, during the year. Mr Khole also announced that there will be speeches given to students by eminent people on various occasions. These initiatives will be organised in association with the Pune Education Trust.
The university aims to acquire global standards in the facilities provided to students and in infrastructure. With the funds available, the university administration is planning to modernise the labs for providing better research facilities to the students. For this, BU will receive assistance from the department of atomic energy. Moreover, department of nanotechnology will conduct research projects on the campus.
Mr Khole also said that the university is aiming at the all round growth of students on campus. As a result, BCCI will be setting up a world-class sports centre on campus. With a long list of initiatives and backed by good funding, BU has aimed to touch greater heights.
