BML University receives grant from Royal Academy of Engineering, UK to research on Thin Films, Vaccum Technology and Surface Engineering

The symposium identified the status of current technology, share experience and expertise, try to evolve broad contours of the course curriculum that needs to be framed for delivering the course.

NEW DELHI: BML Munjal University (BMU), founded by The Hero Group, organised a two-day multidisciplinary symposium on Thin Films, Surface Engineering and Vaccum Technology bringing together academicians from top universities of India and University of Surrey UK, researchers and professionals.

The symposium identified the status of current technology, share experience and expertise, try to evolve broad contours of the course curriculum that needs to be framed for delivering the course and experimental facilities for hands-on skill development.

The workshop focused on creating affordable indigenous platforms for faculty and students to engage in research for applications in diverse domains. senior academicians from institutions like such as IIT Kharagpur, JNU, YMCA, Thapar University participated in sessions and discussed their insights and experiences.

Some industries which are expected to grow rapidly include automobile, aerospace, energy, electronics, medical instrumentation, materials and advanced manufacturing etc.. Thin Films, Vacuum Technology and Surface Engineering are some of the key enabling technologies facilitating all these multidisciplinary domains with a possible market opportunity of over a $100 billion.

This, the university feels calls for skilled and trained personnel for design, development, production, testing and servicing whereas less than 1% of Indian institutions offer courses in this area.

BMU has recently received a grant from Royal Academy of Engineering, UK for developing a structured industry-oriented multidisciplinary course in Thin Films, Vacuum Technology and Surface Engineering and for facilitating human resource capacity building starting from Faculty.
